Photobooth Photoshoots
Depending on what generation you are, you may remember when silly filters became a thing on the internet.
For me, they first appeared in the form of a Macbook Photobooth square faced filter in 2010. Genuinely hours of fun, taking silly photos with myself or my friends for absolutely no reason at all.
Here is a montage for your viewing pleasure of some wonderful shots of me (and my brother) when I was a university student.
More recently, these filters have advanced much more significantly with the likes of Snapchat and Tik Tok, plus many other social media platforms creating hilarious (and sometimes dangerously imperceptible) filters for individuals to utilise.
I am not going to go into the dangers of filters on our self perception and body image today. Yes, I think it’s an incredibly important topic and one that definitely needs to be discussed - but not today.
Today, I have a different purpose. A fun, humour focussed and more light hearted related purpose.
For Hump Day Hype Up today, I’m encouraging you to have a silly photoshoot. Whether you use filters, or just pull funny faces, lean into the mindless joy that comes from being silly. Include friends, include your family, whoever is around, make a moment of it.
5 minutes to just laugh at yourselves. Be playful. Lean into playing like a child.
There is a tonne of research I can share on why this is so beneficial for you… but this week, it’s not about the research. It’s about simply having fun and taking some time to be silly for yourself. That is all.
Tag me in your photos if you upload!!
