Exposing myself and I hope it helps you too!

I got challenged this week, as part of the 10 Day Brave Challenge I’m doing with my girlfriend, to sit down and right out what I truly believe in. More specifically I was asked to share my unpopular opinions on social media.

This is challenging for me, because I have a lot of beliefs, and in total honesty, I am still coming to terms with some of them myself. I whole heartedly believe them, and I find it difficult to articulate exactly what I mean when I’m talking with people who have differing beliefs.

You see, in the last few years I’ve been on a huge personal development journey. No surprises there. That’s not the exposing part. The exposing part is that I have now learnt things about myself which make me a bit different to a lot of the people I grew up around.

Everyone, every single person on this planet, is having a completely unique human experience.

How they perceive that experience, and their opinions on what happens before, after, or even during their life, is ABSOLUTELY unequivocally their own decision. I encourage and applaud people for having unique and different beliefs. The thing was, until this week, I was having trouble completely accepting that I also have beliefs that can be considered different.

So today, I’ve decided to give myself permission to share that difference with pride. To do that I am exposing myself, and the thoughts that I have about life and the universe, with you, to either help you get to know me a little bit more OR help you to see another way of viewing your life experience and maybe have a positive influence.

I was already a happy person before I went on this journey into personal development, but I wasn’t a truly confident person with a strong sense of self belief. I had enough belief to get up and do things, but not enough to believe that I would be the best or even necessarily succeed at the task. It meant a lot of time was often spent procrastinating and or dwelling on doing things because I couldn’t see the future. I couldn’t cast what I wanted to make for myself, with conviction.

What I have learnt over the last few years has completely changed that perspective.

So here is what I believe:

  • I believe that the mind is powerful enough to completely change your whole reality. The way you think, feel and act about your life, will exclusively influence the way your external environment appears.

  • Due to this, I also believe that it’s possible to completely change your life if you change your belief system. The way you look at your surroundings will either open or close doors.

  • I believe that EVERYTHING happens to us for a reason. Whether that experience is enjoyable or devastating, I believe that all things that occur to us in our lifetime occur because they’re teaching us the lesson that our higher self has been tasked to learn.

  • On top of this, I believe that our unconscious beliefs, actions and behaviours can be passed from generations (and past lives) before us. This can sometimes be considered a ‘cop out’ but for me, I believe that it’s our responsibility to end this. Instead of allowing past trauma to haunt us, we can be the person to release it and move forward with a clean slate.

  • I believe we’re all having a human experience in a super natural world. We are currently experiencing only a tiny percentage of what is really out there and the human experience is simply a blimp in the whole of the universe. There is so much more out there, that maybe we will and maybe we won’t get to consciously experience, but this unique human one is something to be appreciated. Its for a short time only, so you may as well make the most of it.

  • Finally, and this belief is the one thats supported my professional career development the most, I believe that worrying what other people think is only hurting yourself. Other people do not care about you as much as we think they do. So long as you’re not hurting anyone, do whatever it is that you want to do. It doesn’t matter what other people think. Be as weird as you want. Dance in the rain. Ask the question. Doing the thing that you’re worried other people are going to judge you for, that is the thing that will liberate you the most.

The reason I’ve had trouble publicly sharing these beliefs so profoundly is because really shitty things happen to really good people every day. I know plenty of incredible people who are going through terrible things right now, and to suggest that it’s happening to them as an act of their higher self is REALLY hard to digest.

BUT, it is what I believe and having this belief has completely changed my life and my ability to process situations that are tough. The reason why I believe in this so much is because it allows you the ability to learn from every single experience. Instead of wondering what you’ve done wrong to deserve this, you can ask yourself ‘for what purpose did this happen to me’. What were you meant to learn about yourself and your growth in this experience.

Does it make it easy? Fuck no.

Does it always make sense? Maybe not.

Does it allow you to find out more about yourself, expand your comfort zone, and live with a higher level of awareness every day? Yes. Yes it does.

It’s important to make this very clear, I don’t believe everyone starts with an even playing field. Not even close. I know that all circumstances are different and all people are dealt a different deck of cards. This is why the point about past trauma and past lives can be so powerful. I know that different backgrounds makes it much harder to really embody these beliefs, and I recognise my privilege in this regard too. As I’ve mentioned, everyone has their own unique experience and they get to decide how they want to play their cards. It’s been my experience, that seeing the world through this lens opens up the most amount of opportunity, joy and development.

I’m not asking you to believe what I believe.

I’m not even asking you to investigate it if you don’t want to.

I am however sharing these thoughts, in case they resonate with you, and can help change your life for the better too.

Whatever you believe, I respect your right to believe that. My only non negotiable belief is that no one else should be hurt as part of you bringing your beliefs to life.

If this has resonated in any way, and you’d like to have a chat about it, you know where to find me.

Sending you lots of love,
Jade xxx
